Product Follow-ups
The note on the back of your hand, in the product.
Chase this on Tuesday. Two taps inside the conversation sets a dated reminder with a note, owned by a named person, that turns overdue in public if it slips.
Why it exists
Deals are not lost, they are forgotten
Almost nothing in a busy WhatsApp inbox is lost to a bad answer. It is lost to a good conversation that simply stopped — a quote sent on Thursday that nobody chased on Monday, a customer who said “let me check with my partner” in March and was never asked again.
The usual fixes are a paper notebook, a phone alarm, or the unread badge used as a to-do list. All three are private to one person, and none of them survive that person being on leave. A follow-up is the same instinct with an owner, a date and a note the rest of the team can see.
What you get
In the product today.
Two taps
Tomorrow, Monday, +3 days, +1 week — or pick a date. It lands at 09:00 on the day, because chasing is a morning’s work rather than a mid-afternoon interruption.
On a chat, a contact or a deal
A reminder set on a conversation is anchored to the person as well, so it survives the chat being archived — which is half the point of keeping it out of the thread.
Hand one to a teammate
Assign it and they are told straight away rather than on the due date. Being handed somebody else’s promise is news.
Repeating, one at a time
Every day, week or month. The next occurrence is created only when you complete the current one, so a fortnight away does not come back to fourteen overdue reminders.
Overdue is visible
The chat list carries a “Follow-up due” chip, the contact directory has a segment for it, and the pipeline board filters on it. The ones that slipped are findable, not remembered.
It nudges you, never the customer
A follow-up has an assignee and a note and nowhere at all to put a message body, so it cannot send one. That is a structural guarantee rather than a setting somebody could flip.
When you would use it
Situations this is for
- A quote went out on Thursday and needs chasing if there is no reply by Monday.
- A customer says “call me after the holidays” and nobody wants to hold that in their head for a month.
- A rep goes on leave with nine open promises somebody else now has to keep.
Questions
Follow-ups — questions
Does the customer get a message?
Never. A follow-up notifies the agent it belongs to. It has nowhere to store a message body, so it cannot send one — scheduling a message to a customer is a separate feature, kept separate on purpose.
How am I reminded?
It appears in the notification bell inside the app on the due date, and the conversation shows a “Follow-up due” chip. There is no email or SMS nudge today.
Is this on the Starter plan?
Yes. Follow-ups, contact notes, contact owner and company are on every plan. Deals and the pipeline board are the Pro part of the CRM.
