What is a wa.me link?
It is WhatsApp’s official click-to-chat format. A link like https://wa.me/13055550142 opens a chat with that number — in the app on a phone, or WhatsApp Web on a desktop — without the customer having to save the number first.
How do I format the phone number?
Digits only, country code first, with no plus sign, spaces, dashes or brackets. A US number becomes 13055550142. This generator strips the formatting for you, so you can paste the number however you have it.
Can I pre-fill the message?
Yes — add text and it is placed in the customer’s message box when the chat opens. They still choose to send it. Pre-filling something specific like the product they were looking at makes replies far easier to route.
Where should I put the link?
